Whoo Boy. Glad I know better, now.

John Kerry -- war profiteer.
Mary Tillman -- disingenuous and ludicrous to boot.
Jessica Lynch -- dishonorable.

The wingnut noise machine, unable to deal with the horror wrought by the weasel in the White House, unable to defend the indefensible, has instead returned to their tired old tactic of diversion by character assassination.

Disgusting.

In the Battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed.”[5]

This means "Mission Accomplished."

Only in a "1984" world can a large group of individs. say it does not.

It has been a long day (and it is only 4:00) . . . so forgive me, but I can't parse what it is you are saying. I am not sure if you are saying we won in Iraq, or making a sarcastic comment on this, the fourth anniversary of Weasel's declaration that we won the war. I am sure it is obvious which it is, but I am too obtuse to figure it out right now . . .

Don't forget Mex Cleland. No one hates the troops more than he does.

Oh, I dunno, I thin John Murtha is a bigg traitor, and an obvious troops-hater . . . .

But what is more important is that we find many more relatives of dead, maimed, beaten, and captured boys and girls to label hatefully, because that saves us from the embarassment of having to actually confront the miserable failure after miserable failure that this Weasel and his criminally-insane cabal has walked us into. . . . .

It isn't character assassination to have an opinion that varies from yours.

It is not character assassination to point out that before Jessica Lynch accepted a million bucks to tell a story she once claimed NOT to remember, she was physically unfit to serve on the battlefield.

It is not character assassination to point out the political viewpoint of President Bush's detractors.

It is not character assassination to call Tillman a hero.

It is not character assassination to point out that families who lost a servicemember during the Clinton years, that they hold Clinton responsible for that death when they never got a straight answer for their loved one's manner of death.

War sucks. Just because it's hard, does not mean it is not worth fighting.

Media Lizzy, welcome. You class up the jernt (even when you're wrong) ;).

And you are so wrong.

Don't like the Tillman family politics? Deal with their arguments. Don't attack their patriotism by smearing them as "war profiteers".

The Tillmans' son is dead. They don't deserve to be treated like traitors simply because you don't like their reaction to the way in which this cabal in the White House abused the corpse of their son for political profit.

Jessica Lynch was proud to serve her country. She was captured and treated brutally. She objected to the mistreatment she received at the hands of her own government who, again (see a pattern here?) lied about what happened.

She doesn't deserve your attack on her honor and her patriotism simply because you don't like her reaction. Deal with the substance instead of characterizing and compartmentalizing her, as is so, too, often the wont of this cabal. (As my friend Will D. so aptly lays out here.)

You want to defend the war, to add you voice to the shrinking 25%? Be my guest. Just do it without propping your argument on the crutch of call people who had served willingly and sacrificed so much traitors.

It was funny when Dan said it, but that was a comedy show. Jessica and the Tillmans aren't and calling them traitors for their opinions is more than wrong. (And make no mistake, alleging "Disingenuous war profiteering by Jessica Lynch and the Tillman family" is more than just hyperbole, it is accusing them of what Harry Truman aptly called treason.)
