Strategic Vision's July Poll results on the Pennsylvania Senate election do not show any major change from their results for the last two months. Today's results put Bobby Casey at 50% and Senator Santorum at 40%, 8% undecided and a margin of error of +/- 3 points.
Casey gained a point from the June Strategic Vision Poll results, while Santorum is running in place at 40. Casey is standing still as well, having gained but a point since the May (pre-primary) Strategic Vision Poll. But ten points over a multi-term incumbent in July is pretty darn sweet for the Dems to contemplate, even with Casey.
Strategic Vision puts Rick's approval numbers at 46, equaling his disapprovals. Santorum's approval numbers are only one point behind Rendell's 47% approval. In the same poll, Rendell is kicking Swann's butt 49% to 36%. But 60% say Pennsylvania is heading in the wrong direction -- hard to tell but that may be more a reaction to the state legislature than to Rendell.
Strategic Vision's numbers on Bush track close to the recent SurveyUSA numbers -- SV says 64% of Pennsylvanians think Bush Blows.

Don't kid yourself for one second. If there was another candidate other than Casey, such as an independent running, Casey would not get my vote or other senior's who vote each election. Two party system will fade with time, hopefully in my lifetime. For now the best course of action is to "vote the incumbent out" put a new guy in and hope he does not steal the store until the next election and then vote him out too!
I think the two-party system is here to stay. It seems to me to be the natural result of our non-parlimentary system of government.
There is a great deal of resentment about Casey, and not a little ambivalence. I have yet to meet anyone who is is ethusiastic about the man. Personally, I think he lacks spark, imagination, and leadership ability. While I hope he is merely a place-filler, I think he may be there for a while, which is not good for us.
On the other hand, since he dislikes Washington and really wants to be Governor (I am told by some near to him), it is possible that he could vacate the seat early if he can be reasonably assured of winning the job in Harrisburg.
One can only hope.
